Project for Promoting Investment and Enhancing Industrial Competitiveness In the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (2017-2021)
The project is a Technical Cooperation for Development Planning, which aims at strengthening linkage of international companies and domestic companies through creating balance between Foreign Direct Investment Policy and domestic industrial policy. UNICO is assisting productivity enhancement of supporting industries such as metal manufacturing and plastic manufacturing to contribute to motorcycle production.
The Project on Strengthening Manufac turing Enterprises through Quality and Productivity in Tanzania, Phase II (2017-2021)
The United Republic of Tanzania aims to become a middle income country by 2025 and the growth of manufacturing sector is a key area in achieving this goal. Based on experiences of Japan in terms of quality and productivity implement, the project introduces Kaizen in Tanzanian economy which consists of small number of large scale companies and majority of SMEs. Phase II focuses on enhancing nationwide promotion of Kaizen.
National KAIZEN Project in Zambia
(2014-2016 JICA)
The project started as the 8th quality and productivity improvement (Kaizen) project which JICA is promoting in Africa. UNICO has supported capacity building of newly established Kaizen institute of Zambia, developing Kaizen promotion system, training of Kaizen consultants, creation of information dissemination system, and enhancement of global Kaizen network through the Technical Cooperation for Development Planning.
Project for Enhancing Regional Integrated SME Promotion（RISMEP） Mechanism (2013-2016 JICA)
This project is aiming to establish RISMEP, which is a mechanism to deliver SME support services in local areas in an effective and efficient manner through an SME support network that links individuals and organizations engaged in SME support and provides a one-stop service function to select and introduce a set of appropriate support services from an integrated list of SME support organizations and services. This mechanism will be facilitated and implemented by the Industrial Promotion Center under the Ministry of Industry.
National Industry Cluster Capacity Enhancement Project in Philippines (2012-2015 JICA)
The Industry Cluster is a group of similar and related firms in a close geographic area. The Industry Cluster Approach is to enhance its advantage, in cooperation of related entities, to contribute to industrial development. UNICO started supporting industrial cluster in Davao area, and received National Best Practice of ODA by the Government of Philippines. The project is to deploy the good practice to 24 clusters nationwide, and the cluster members have formulated strategy for industrial enhancement, and implemented. The activity has contributed to develop academic-industry network.
Study on Private Sector Development in Nepal (2012-2013 JICA)
This study sought to identify opportunities to support private sector development in Nepal through Japanese ODA programs. UNICO ascertained the status and problems of local industries and the ongoing government programs and projects relating to private sector development ? in particular, of prospective industrial sectors such as rural industries, agro processing and tourism, as well as promotion of trade and investment. UNICO proposed 10 priority industries, 25 possible support programs, and development goals.
