UNICO International Corporation will soon enter the 55th year since its founding.
Our beginnings trace back to becoming Japan’s first company to specialize in overseas industrial project consulting services, with the aim of contributing to the development of industrial infrastructure in developing countries. We played a key role in the development and management of large-scale projects such as petrochemical plants financed by international financial institutions and saw the launch of essential facilities that formed the foundation of industrial advancement.
Later, we expanded our business to include technical cooperation in areas of policies, systems, and human resource development relating to industrial promotion. Through working on supporting-industry development and local industry revitalization, we have supported the strengthening and enhancement of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) development, which is of vital importance to the socio-economic development of partner countries.
Over the past half-century, both the landscape of development cooperation and the concept of industrial promotion have evolved. Overall, there has been a trend toward diversification and decentralization, and we increasingly feel the need to respond swiftly and boldly to complex and simultaneous changes.
In this context, we revisited our roots and reaffirmed our mission in 2021 to “enrich the lives of people around the world and co-develop wisdom and technology to nurture industry.” Since the start of business, our role has been to contribute through highly specialized consulting services to make the process of industrial development in developing countries more fruitful. With our unique blend of knowledge, expertise, and networks cultivated in supporting industrial development through both project management consulting services for yen loan projects and development consulting services for technical cooperation, we will continue to pursue our mission.
